Program Summary
The City of Peoria is located within the Middle Gila Watershed. The City is approximately 171 square miles. The City's current population is 135,000.
The City's storm drain system is composed of roadways, storm drains, washes, dry rivers, local lakes, retention basins, and drywells.
The City's primary discharge locations are the Agua Fria River, New River, ADOT drainage channels, community retention basins, and parks.
The City of Peoria is a Phase 2 community and has obtained a permit from ADEQ for the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System.
The City is implementing best management practices to reduce the amount of pollutants entering our storm sewer system. The City has developed an implementation plan that is contained within the Storm Water Management Plan that outlines the types of control measures and the implementation schedule for these measures. Some of these measures include:

- Household Hazardous Waste Collection
- Support of Oil Recycling
- Street Sweeping
- Storm Drain Maintenance
